Evocative of Alfred Hitchcock's film "The Birds".

They just don't seem to make tall slides ans swing sets like that anymore. :(

There was a school I had seen in the news-not sure where it was-but they replaced the playground with a "play area" for kids to sit with tablets!Get this, they were worried the kids might get hurt from the play equipment!

And at the same time, these same people while complain out the other side of their mouth about childhood obesity... :(

I know, right? It's ridiculous! And no one wants to take the blame for any of it.

Sadly, in this day and age, accepting fault for anything usually means being subject to litigation. :(

I think that slide is taller than the school house.

If a kid fell off that, it was the short bus from there on out. Steel structure, slide with hills in it, about 15 feet high, and narrow...looked like fun. (falling apart now though, 50+yrs of neglect.)

Yeah, and if you hit a bump too fast, you flew off the thing. Ah, the days before plastic.

You cant see it in this pic...wasn't able to fit it in, there was a carosel...if thats what you call it. Circular, wood planks to sit on, spins, fancy. There was also and equally high slide that was the kind where you do not sit on it, just two bars on which you place your legs and hands. Thought at the time the same thing, the good ol days, back when kids just knew how to take a fall. Nowadays its 4 foot slides and chopped up rubber floor landings.
